WoW Cataclysm: why it adds strength to SWTOR
August 22, 2009 · 1 Comment
The big MMO news to come out of this weekend is the trailer for the next World of Warcraft expansion, called Cataclysm. Before I start talking about it, have a look for yourself if you haven’t already: As a WoW player, I have mixed feelings about well known areas in the game having their appearance changed so much. That aside, it looks like an excellent expansion. Here’s why I think Cataclysm adds even more fuel to growing fire that is Star Wars The Old Republic: 1. Proof of longevity As a Warcraft player since the original 2D version in the 90’s, I’m still surprised at... [Read the full story]

SWTOR: Comic-Con news roundup
July 25, 2009 · Comments Off
The SWTOR PR-people have been on a roll in recent months with a regular drip-feed of new information to keep interest well and truly piqued. This weekend saw the SWTOR show roll into San Diego’s Comic-Con. In the lead-up, IGN conducted a Q&A session with the SWTOR team (Dallas Dickinson – Senior Content Producer, BioWare, and Jake Neri, Producer at LucasArts), which is well worth a read (there’s also a good summary here), although it’s riddled with “we can’t comment yet”. As far as news from Comic-Con itself: 1. You can listen to the full audio of... [Read the full story]

Captain Obvious: the Top 5 dead certain SWTOR predictions for 2010
December 21, 2009 · Comments Off
It’s that time of the year when dozens of bloggers sift through the remains of 2009 predictions and start making their 2010 ones. Given we’re a newish site, there’s not a lot for us to gloat or cringe over for 2009, but we’re more than happy to make some 100% accurate predictions for the coming year: 1. If SWTOR is released, the hype will be bigger than George Lucas announcing Barack Obama as Lando Calrissian in the long-denied Star Wars Episode 7. Ok, maybe not but you get what I mean. Aside from the gaming world, the wider media will pick up on the new MMO phenomenon.... [Read the full story]

Star Wars Galaxies – have you heard of it? I’d be surprised if you haven’t, considering you’re here on this site reading material related to the forthcoming MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic. Galaxies was the first attempt at an MMO based on the world of George Lucas’ Star Wars, originally...

By now, thousands have signed up for the SWTOR beta, but I thought it was worth mentioning those who won’t be able to take part in the beta phase. Specfically, any person on a Mac running VMWare Fusion or Boot Camp may not be able able to take part, after I emailed support stating the sign-up form wasn’t...
